Adoption Skylar Motlong One thing you don’t know about me is that my life is like a roller coaster it has been ruined since I was four years old. In 1996 my mom was pregnant with a baby boy named Evan he is now my brother we are 3 years apart. After she had him you would think she had me, but she didn’t. My mom was expecting another child. She was expecting a baby boy. She was going to name him Riley. She later found out the baby wasn’t going to come it had died in her stomach that was one of the saddest days of her life. I remember years later my mom telling me “That was one of the saddest days of my whole life I cried and cried.” Three years later I arrived. My mom still wanted another child. She had a friend that had just adopted a baby girl. Her friend told her that its family abandoned the baby and they adopted her to make her life better. My mom wanted a baby but what she really wanted was to adopt a child. I was four years old when my life turned around. At the time my whole family was excited to help out a child. The people we adopted him from didn’t tell us about his past or what we were going to expect. He’s mom and dad did drugs. They got drunk a lot and were very cruel to him. When we adopted him he was three, most might think that’s pretty young for a child. But little do they know a lot can happen in three years. When we adopted Jessie we thought we did the right thing, to help out a boy with a bad past. We found out later that he’s real brother and him were beat everyday and were sent from home to home and every time they got a family they turned him away. We found out that because of he’s past he does exactly what he’s parents do. He doesn’t know what’s right and what is wrong. He always gets in trouble. As a child you need loving and attention. I never got that attention, and I never had time for that loving. He was always getting in trouble that my brother and I never got attention, and never had time to be read a bedtime story. Or play board games with, or got tucked in. I wish I could go back in time and make it so that we adopted a kid that was just born. That way he wouldn’t have known what he’s life was like and he would just know that he’s new life is a whole lot better! I learned a lot from this experience of having an adopted brother. One of the things was that it’s great to help out a kid who needs it, but be sure you get a new born. I also learned that this experience has mad me closer to my older brother Evan. Now I go to him whenever I’m sad.
